What do I need?

We would suggest for your first time skiing or snowboarding you should book some lessons, a lift pass (to allow you up the ski lifts) and ski & boot hire. These items should be booked ahead before you travel and, if you book with us, we will guide you through this during the final weeks before your holiday. Before your first ski holiday, you will also need to organise essential items such as a ski jacket and salopettes. To find out more about what you might need to bring, have a look at our ski holiday preparation page. If you're looking to keep in touch with ski related activities and events in the U.K, year around, we highly recommend the Ski Club of Manchester.

Ski & Snowboard Lessons

The most popular lesson arrangement for beginners is 5 x half day group lessons starting on a Sunday or Monday. The main ski school is called E.S.F. (Ecole du Ski Francais). Generally we have found that half day ski lessons are perfect, as it gives people time to relax a bit in the afternoons along with time to practice their new skills ready for the next day's ski lessons! There are no ski lessons on your final Saturday allowing you to go and explore the ski area.

There are also other ski schools in Les Gets should you have a preference, and private lessons are an option though they are very expensive. Please just contact us if you are interested in private lessons.

As our guest we will book your ski lessons and we'll show you where to meet your instructor. This is part of our free Concierge Service

Lift Pass

You need a lift pass to go up the ski lifts, even if you are a complete beginner on the most basic lift. Prices for this are all below. Generally people take a 6 day lift pass.

There are two sizes of lift passes - local area (covering all the lifts in Les Gets and Morzine) and a full area pass (covering Les Gets, Morzine and 12 other resort that make up the Portes du Soleil). A local area pass provides more than enough skiing for beginners.

Our guests can have their lift pass pre-bought and delivered to their chalet. This is part of our free Concierge Service

Ski Hire & Snowboard Hire

You will need to hire skis, boots and poles, or a Snowboard & Boots. The poles always come with the skis for no extra charge, so when you see "Ski hire" it means skis and poles. The equipment comes in various grades, from beginner to expert. Generally people hire for 6 days, though we will try to get everyone's equipment fitted the day before (arrival day) so you are ready to go first thing the next morning!

For our guests we will arrange the ski & snowboard hire so they come to the chalet to fit you there or at the shop in Les Gets village centre. This is part of our free Concierge Service

Les Gets, a smoke free ski area

A smoke free area!

Les Gets has embraced a tobacco-free initiative. Smoking is now prohibited on ski slopes and chairlifts, with designated smoking areas.
