The most common way to get to Les Gets is via a flight and an airport transfer. This is typically done via Geneva Airport (GVA). This is the way most people arrive at the resort. If you find yourself in circumstances that demand something different then we have all the information you need right here.
Flying into Geneva? Check our Geneva Airport Transfers Page.
The closest airport to Les Gets is Geneva (GVA). It is approximately one hours drive from the airport to Les Gets village centre. It is also possible to fly to Grenoble (GNB) or Lyon (LYS) however we highly recommend you fly into Geneva as there is excellent transfers between there and Les Gets. There is no Les Gets airport.
|Geneva GVA (recommended)||1 hr 10 mins||73 kilometres / 45 miles|
|Lyon LYS||2 hrs 14 mins||199 kilometres / 123 miles|
|Grenoble GNB||2 hrs 16 mins||202 kilometres / 125 miles|
Getting from the UK to Les Gets is relatively easy with most of the major airports have good connections to Geneva (GVA). Les Gets is just 1 hour's drive from Geneva airport and this is the airport we recommend our guests use. Although there are other airports relatively close by (Grenoble (GNB) or Lyon (LYS)), we'd not really recommend using them as it's much more difficult to get from the other airports to Les Gets. We can arrange transfers for you from the Geneva airport to the door of your chalet. These transfers are in shared or private minibuses and are arranged around your flight times.
For transfers from any other airports, railway stations or other locations please just contact us for prices and options.
It is possible to fly direct from Ireland to Les Gets and that we mean to Geneva, Switzerland! Geneva airport is actually the best airport for your ski holiday in Les Gets. You do have an option of three airports you can arrive at: Grenoble (GNB) or Lyon (LYS) in France and Geneva (GVA) in Switzerland but we recommend Geneva. At the time of writing (Oct 2019) all of these airports have direct flights from Dublin. Getting a connecting flight via London from any Irish airport will give you more options.

The closest train station to Les Gets is in Cluses. However we wouldnt always recommend arriving here as it can be a bit inefficient. Lets look at this and the alternative options:
The option we would recommend is to get the train to Geneva airport (GVA) and take a normal airport transfer from there. From the UK you can take the Eurostar to Paris, then the TGV connects Paris to Geneva at great speed (about 3 hours). When you arrive into Geneva Main station take the train out to the airport (about 15 mins). From here there are many transfer options from there up to Les Gets, which takes about 1 hour.
The second option would be to take the train to Cluses (about 4:30 hours from Paris Gare de Lyon). Cluse train station is about 30 mins drive (22 kilometers) from Les Gets. Transfers from here can be a bit more awkward. It involves changing trains to get there so you might find the Geneva option above a bit easier.
It is a relatively straightforward (if not slightly long) drive from Calais to Les Gets. You typically route via Geneva to get as this gives you the best roads. Top tip: Avoid the centre of Paris at all costs!
Les Gets is very easy to drive to from the UK. It's about 9 hours driving time from Calais, and it's all motorways until the last 30 mins. We've put a map below with our favourite route for you. Please note that if you just put Les Gets into a GPS ( 46°09'31.3"N 6°40'10.9"E ) it'll often route you through the centre of Paris, which is not particularly pleasant! The route below goes through Reims and Troyes which is much easier & quicker in our experience.
If you are self driving we recommend using what locals and seasonaires call the "Vallee Verte" route. Starting by heading along the A40 out of Geneva until Exit 15. Then move briefly onto D903 before taking D9 (passing the Le Fournil Du Miton bakery on your left) and and straight onto D20 before turning onto the D907. Keep going through the village of Bonne and onto the village of Taninges before turning up onto the Les Gets valley road D902. Keep going along the D902 until you get to Les Gets. This route is a bit quicker and more scenic. It also avoids the centre of Cluses and costs about 1.80 less on tolls. If unsure then take the Cluses route as it is sign posted all the way.
If you wish to drive from Ireland to Les Gets you can avail of 3 ferry routes running between Ireland and France. At the time of writing (Oct 2019) there are 9 sailings per week. Dublin to Cherbourg is run by Irish Ferries and runs four times weekly. Cork to Roscoff is operated by Brittany Ferries and runs twice a week.
Please note here that a sat nav will probably advise you to take a route through Paris. This will lose you time and raise your stress levels. We recommend you take the routes on the maps below, taking you south of Paris, will bring you through Tours and Bourges from both Roscoff and Cherbourg. In our experience these routes will save you time and are, overall, a more pleasant driving experience.
