If this is your first time skiing then you are in the right place. As part of our free Concierge Service we can arrange everything for you to make your first ski trip a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. Below we've suggested what you might need though please never hesitate to contact us for a chat if you've any questions at all.
We would suggest for your first time skiing or snowboarding you should book some lessons, a lift pass (to allow you up the ski lifts) and ski & boot hire. These items should be booked ahead before you travel and, if you book with us, we will guide you through this during the final weeks before your holiday. Before your first ski holiday, you will also need to organise essential items such as a ski jacket and salopettes. To find out more about what you might need to bring, have a look at our ski holiday preparation page. If you're looking to keep in touch with ski related activities and events in the U.K, year around, we highly recommend the Ski Club of Manchester.
The most popular lesson arrangement for beginners is 5 x half day group lessons starting on a Sunday or Monday. The main ski school is called E.S.F. (Ecole du Ski Francais). Generally we have found that half day ski lessons are perfect, as it gives people time to relax a bit in the afternoons along with time to practice their new skills ready for the next day's ski lessons! There are no ski lessons on your final Saturday allowing you to go and explore the ski area.
There are also other ski schools in Les Gets should you have a preference, and private lessons are an option though they are very expensive. Please just contact us if you are interested in private lessons.
As our guest we will book your ski lessons and we'll show you where to meet your instructor. This is part of our free Concierge Service
You need a lift pass to go up the ski lifts, even if you are a complete beginner on the most basic lift. Prices for this are all below. Generally people take a 6 day lift pass.
There are two sizes of lift passes - local area (covering all the lifts in Les Gets and Morzine) and a full area pass (covering Les Gets, Morzine and 12 other resort that make up the Portes du Soleil). A local area pass provides more than enough skiing for beginners.
Our guests can have their lift pass pre-bought and delivered to their chalet. This is part of our free Concierge Service
You will need to hire skis, boots and poles, or a Snowboard & Boots. The poles always come with the skis for no extra charge, so when you see "Ski hire" it means skis and poles. The equipment comes in various grades, from beginner to expert. Generally people hire for 6 days, though we will try to get everyone's equipment fitted the day before (arrival day) so you are ready to go first thing the next morning!
For our guests we will arrange the ski & snowboard hire so they come to the chalet to fit you there or at the shop in Les Gets village centre. This is part of our free Concierge Service
The snowplough allows you to slow down and stop. You can expect to your first few ski sessions working on the 'plough, also known as the wedge. Below, Ski Instructor Darren Turner of www.SkiSchoolApp.com explains what it is and how it is done.
When it comes to organising beginners extras package for you and your group, just get in touch. We can handle everything for you at no extra cost. Please just call or email us, we can discuss the all options with you and answer any questions you may have. Once you've made your decisions please just tell us your requirements and we'll get your beginners extras package all arranged for you.
We have made it easy for group leaders. We have an easy and convenient way for you to arrange all the beginners extras package your group requires, which is through our online booking manager. The great thing about the online booking manager is everyone in your group can use the login details to enter their own requirements, therefore making it an easier process for everyone. Alternatively, you can tell your group members to contact us directly and we will arrange everything for them individually - which makes it less hassle for you. Please contact us about your group extras as soon as you have booked your holiday and we will take it from there.
We normally recommend you arrange your beginners extras package around three to four weeks (20 - 30 days) before you depart for Les Gets. We will contact you then to let you know it's time to arrange any holiday extras you would like. If you would like anything that's unusual, or if you are holidaying during the New Years or Half Term period please contact us as soon as you have booked your holiday. This is because extras such as ski lessons can get booked up quickly during these busy periods (although we can guarantee most extras such as your ski and snowboard hire any time of the season). Find out the best times to arrive in and depart Les Get.
Arriving during these times will ensure that your accommodation is ready and waiting for you as soon as you're in resort — especially handy if you have children to look after. While getting into Les Gets in the morning and hitting the slopes straight away sounds great in theory, in practice the logistics can get a bit overwhelming. While we're happy to store your luggage, we can't always offer you a place to get 'ski-ready'. If your flight times are such that you can't avoid an early arrival, dropping your luggage with us and head out to soak up the atmosphere and get a bite to eat would be the more advisable option.
Again, while the thought of getting one last ski session in on your departure day sounds good, it can become a little tricky to pull off. Firstly, if the weather plays up, it will become a challenge to find alternative entertainment — especially with little ones. Secondly, as it's after checkout time, we can't offer anywhere for you to get changed back into your comfy clothes for your flight home.×
It couldn't be easier to pay for beginners extras package! We are able to take the payment in resort either by cash or by card. If you like to pay ahead, please let us know and we can send you a link for secure online payment.
We have a card machine we can bring around the your chalet, where each person can pay for their beginners extras package. Online payment for beginners extras prior to your holiday is also an option. We do not charge extra for any of these services.
Note: All payment for extras will be in Euros.
We become a single point of contact for organising your entire holiday. Just give your party members our contact details and we take care of the rest. We get all their booking details for all the beginners extras and you get to relax knowing it is all taken care of.
Skis delivered to your chalet door? easy! Transfers ready to go at the airport for you and your group? Just say the word. Lift pass waiting for you on arrival at the chalet? No Problem. We are here to remove the hassle from your holiday.
We do not add anything onto the price of your ski holiday extras. And in the case of your ski lift pass, it's even cheaper to book through us than it is to go to the lift pass office yourself. We'll get you the advance online saver discount, plus we will bring it to you at the chalet for free!
